The Nyonya cuisine here is quite authentic, and the renowned dishes are prepared exceptionally well with delightful gravies. I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner experience.

Overall, the dishes were flavourful and refreshing, delivering a distinctly authentic Nyonya experience. The flavours were well-balanced and enjoyable. However, the rice could be better prepared to complement the accompanying dishes more harmoniously. Pricing is slightly on the higher side, though the quality of the food partly justifies it. On a positive note, the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, contributing to a pleasant dining experience.

Our group loved the authentic baba cuisine -every dish was so flavourful we couldn't decide on a favourite. The desserts were just as good. We were fortunate to get the private room (fits 8 to 12 pax) so ambience was great. Outside, the chatter was quite loud.

Went in to dine with not much expectations. But when I saw they have buah keluak curry without reservation needed and does not cost a bomb dish, I just had to order to try it. Verdict: love the buah keluak curry. Nutty curry taste just how it should be. I ordered small, they gave me 4 biji of buah keluak. Good portion for 2 pax Happy and satisfied because it is really hard to get this Peranakan dish nowadays!! Brinjal masak kicap manis is also good. Overall food is rich and feels homemade with lotsa spices.

Our first visit and it was a pleasant surprise as the food tasty and had a good variety of nyonya and portugese food. The portions can be a little better for the dishes with the price we paid for large but not for the cendol which was huge (4 pax could share). We loved the debal curry, beef keluak, brinjal fried with dried shrimp and the Asam prawns. The kids had 3 servings of rice to go with the dishes above. The friend kembung with cili sumbat could be a little bit more spicier and flavourful. Overall the services was good and we had a very good experience and will definitely come back.

Big Baba is a fantastic spot for authentic Nyonya food, delivering that rare mix of homely comfort and refined flavours. I booked a private room with my family, which made the experience even more special — cozy, intimate, and perfect for laying out a full spread without feeling rushed. It’s the kind of setting that elevates a family meal into something truly memorable. The dishes were absolute rice thieves: rich curries that coated every grain beautifully, bold sambals with just the right heat, and fragrant vegetables that disappeared far quicker than expected. But the standout was unquestionably the pineapple prawns — plump, fresh, and bathed in a sauce that was simultaneously tangy, creamy, and deeply aromatic. It was the dish everyone kept returning to, the one that anchored the entire meal. Coupled with warm service and genuine Nyonya hospitality, Big Baba is a place I’d happily return to again and again.

Stumbled upon this Nyonya Restaurant while looking for good Nyonya cuisine. Love the service and ambience here too. Visited this place twice for their individual lunch sets from 11am -3pm (Mon - Fri). Will definitely make a return with a bigger group to try the other dishes. Keep up the good work and maintain your standards. Went to this restaurant again with more friends from Sgp and Penang. We called up to make a reservation, as we had 10 people. But we did not get to try the otak-otak.

My second visit to Big Baba, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The food was absolutely delicious, served in a warm and inviting environment. A special mention goes to the sweet and polite lady who took our order—her friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. We loved every single dish we ordered—each one was full of flavor and beautifully presented. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic, satisfying food with great service. We’ll definitely be back again!
